My FH is not religious at all, while his immediate family is Muslim. That means no alcohol around them. So one of the ways to celebrate our marriage is to have 2 days of festivities:
1st day – celebrate with his parents, close family and friends who can relate and understand traditions. Maybe have a nikah done by one of the relatives. We’ll have Bbq in the backyard, ZERO alcohol. Basically eating and talking.
2nd day – have an actual ceremony with a white dress, pictures and stuff. Then go to a reception site. Parents and whoever cannot be around alcohol won’t join us. There will be mostly friends at the reception, 20-25 people max.
Second option is to have a dry wedding for everybody with an after party for drinkers. All in one day.
I’m OKish with a dry wedding. FH wants to make his parents happy but doesn’t want to have a dry wedding either. We both agree that it may turn out boring. Two day scenario is just weird.
Please! I need your advice. What would you do?
