I went to Jared (after I tried to go somewhere else) and their price and customer service was great! Here’s a picture of the final product!
Anyway, I have a custom engagement ring which is a 4-band puzzle ring with a marquise moissanite stone and awesome. I love it. However, lots of things don’t fit it and I had an idea of what I wanted. I tried to have to original jeweler make me a shadow band, but he just stopped talking to me.
Their custom ring process is to have a consultation with you to determine what it is you’re looking for. I wanted Pave diamonds just on the top of the shadow band and I really wanted the band to fit snuggly with my Ering. The Ering is wide and my fingers are small. I was most concerned that it wouldn’t all fit on my finger comfortably or the band would look overwhelming/out of place. The sales guy was great. He suggested making the band the same weight as one of my 4 bands. He understood and executed my vision.
Once you have decided what you want and agreed to a price. They laser image your existing ring (if you’re getting a shadow band) and CAD a drawing of how the rings will fit together with all the little details. Approx 3-4 weeks. NOTE: This is when they said I was going to get my ring back. Instead, they had it the entire time to ensure everything fit correctly.
You come back into the store to approve your CAD model. If there is an issue this is when you would fix it. I assume you might have to have themCAD it up again. I’m not entirely sure. Mine were perfect and I really didn’t need to come into the store to see them.
Once the CAD drawings are approved they make a wax model of the actual ring. They make sure it fits together and fits on your finger. You finalize all the details and such. Approx 2-3 weeks
Once the wax mockup has been approved they do the actual casting a gem placement. approx 2-3 weeks. Then you come in and pick it up!
Their customer service was great. I love my ring and it’s exactly what I wanted. The process takes a bit of time so be prepared (and I didn’t have any actual issues). I was getting nervous because I only have 3 weeks left and I just got it back yesterday.
Additionally, they have a lifetime extended service package. Basically, if any damage happens to the ring it’s replaced and I can bring it in for cleanings and things like that. I’m going to add my band to my personal property insurance today so it’s covered if it’s lost or stolen too. ANYWAY, I love it. It came out perfect and is exactly what I wanted. Just a small little bit of bling to highlight my Ering.
My only complaint is that they had my engagement ring for over 2 months which was frustrating because they said they would only need it for first few weeks.
My one piece of advice: go to the store closest to your house! I did this one a whim while I was meeting my mother like 45 min away from where I lived and ended up purchasing it then and there. I couldn’t transfer it back down to the store by my house and I had to make the final paymment to the original store it was bought in. That was a bit frustrating, but also my fault.
I just this second noticed they didn’t do the engraving I wanted. I was too excited yesterday to notice so I will have to call them.
